Dear Strongie,
You had survived from death once and you are strong enough
to pull through and live with your disability.
However, death caught u in a split of second 10months after.
Safe and Sound which is also
means free from danger...
Safe and sound is one of Taylor swift song that
featured in the “The Hunger Games” soundtrack. For me, this is the second song
I love the most from her. The first one was teardrops on my guitar from her
first album Taylor Swift but I was
quite disappointed with the music video.
Ok...back to Safe and sound. This song is so fascinating I can’t
believe Taylor wrote it, this is so not Taylor swift at all to me..but..I love the lyric, the music, the video, the makeup,
the white gown, the everything....hahaha..
The music video was filmed in a
cemetery. In the video, Taylor walking through a ghostly forest in a long white
gown with minimal makeup which make her looks pure and innocent. One of my favourite
moments is when Taylor sits on the gravestones and the graveside belong to a
couple who lived and died in 1853.
What's really touched my heart, the couple had
buried together for 159 years! I wonder what were their lives like before they passed
away. It’s not easy to find someone you love to live with and buried together
for more than 150years.
Safe and sound video was
officially released 3 days ago (13 Feb2012), but I was busy with my reports and
so many pending blogs (indecisive which one to complete first) and today, I
decided to finished this blog first and publish it... Yeay...*PEACE*~~~
Btw...Before proceed with the
music clip.. Interested with The Hunger Games movie??...
The Hunger Games movie will be released on 22 March 2012(Gsc)... Hunger Games is based on a popular novel by Suzanne
Collines, who also penned several sequels based on main heroine Katniss Everdeen,
who will be played by “X-Men: First Class”
actress Jennifer Lawrence~
~Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen~
Hunger Games synopsis: Every year in the ruins of what
was once North America, the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts
to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. Part twisted
entertainment, part government intimidation tactic, the Hunger Games are a
nationally televised event in which "Tributes" must fight with one
another until one survivor remains. Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who
have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely
upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor
Haymitch Abernathy. If she's ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must
make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and
life against love.
Finally....!!! I made it to Thaipusam celebration 2012 at Batu Caves~ woot..woottt~!
Me and my friend went there around 4am plus and it wasn't that hard to get a parking like my friend told me(roadside parking =P). We reached there quite late thus we missed the river bathing and piercing ceremony. By the time we reached, all the devotees started to walk up heading to the Temple Cave.
Murugan Statue
Thaipusam celebrates the day Goddess Parvati bestowed upon her son the “vel” or lance to vanquish the evil demon, Soorapadam. This lance denotes spiritual insight, ability to differentiate right from wrong, righteousness and steadfastness.
However, for many Hindus, Thaipusam has come to mean the birthday of Lord Subramaniam, also known as Lord Muruga, the younger son of Lord Shiva.Hindus celebrate Thaipusam on the tenth month of their calendar. It coincides with the full moon at the end of January and beginning of February 'Thai' is the Hindu month which falls between January 15 to February 15 and 'Pusam' refers to a star which is at its brightest during the period of this festival.
In K. Lumpur, it culminates in a three-day Thaipusam festival which begins from Sri Mahamariaman Temple at Jalan Tun H.S. Lee in Chinatown and ends at Batu Caves. On the eve of the celebration, Lord Muruga’s image is decorated with diamonds, rubies and other jewels. The Idols together with those of his two consorts Valli and Deivayani represent the spiritual and worldly energies (shakti), is placed on a bed of flowers with burning incense on the sides.
In the wee hours of the morning, the five-tonne chariot is pulled by two bulls and hundreds of devotees on its 15 km journey from Chinatown to Batu Caves. The procession weaves through major streets of the city and takes about 8 hours to reach its destination. A prayer ceremony is held at the foot of the caves and the flag of Lord Muruga is hoisted to announce the commencement of the celebrations.
KAVADI ( OFFERING)
The preparations start 48 days prior to the two day Thaipusam festival. The devotees purge themselves of all mental and physical impurities. They take only one vegetarian meal per day and 24 hours prior to Thaipusam, they must maintain a complete fast. The devotees prepare themselves by following strict purification austerities that include:
Transcendence of desire
Shaving of the head
Following a vegetarian diet and refraining from alcohol
Sexual abstinence
Bathing in cold water
Sleeping on the floor
Regular prayers
Milk Offering
Kavadi (offering) carriers are devotees who have requested favours, and have had their favour granted or wish to atone for past misdeeds. Usually, a vow is made to carry the kavadi for one, three, five or even seven years in succession. Common requests are recovery from illness, success in examinations or business or to beget progeny. Most of them carry pots of milk or a pair of coconuts slung across their shoulders instead. Traditional musical instruments are played, and chants of "Vel, Vel" fill the air.
PIERCING
People piercing their body with hooks, skewers and (vel) small lances during Thaipusam at Murugan Temples. Devotees pull heavy objects up the Batu Caves using hooks attached to the body and the reason they perform such piercing to fulfil their wishes. They believe that Muruga will be easily pleased, if the degree of such antics are increased. Some of the devotees pierce their tongue with a small vel to meditate by keeping silent. The vel was used to create a forceful means for Mauna Vratam (remaining silent).
~THAIPUSAM 2012 Recap~
~Shaving heads~
The devotees believe by shaving their head, it will purify them and as the heads are shaved their sins are also removed along with their hair and they become pure as they were at the time of their birth.
